Police lay charges over property offences – Greater Darwin

Northern Territory Police have arrested six youths in relation to property offences around Darwin earlier this week.

Police alleged the youths stole a vehicle in Millner on 2 November, before committing a number of stealing and unlawful entries at businesses in Malak, Fannie Bay and Eaton.

Strike Force Trident detectives arrested six youths yesterday who were allegedly involved at various stages of the property offending.

An 11-year-old and 14-year-old were charged with:

  • Stealing
  • Unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • Unlawful entry – building
  • Damage to property
  • Serious breach of bail

Both were remanded to appear in court today.

A 15-year-old was charged with:

  • Unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • Stealing

He was bailed to appear in court on 17 November 2021.

Three youths aged 10, 12 and 12 will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said, “Investigations into these property offences are ongoing. Police would like to thank the members of the public who reported these incidents as they were occurring, and for those who sent in footage.”
