Police lay charges over property offences in Darwin 18 October

Northern Territory Police have charged two men and a youth in relation to property offences around Darwin over the weekend.

At around 11:40pm last night, police received reports that intruders were inside a business in Parap. Three males, aged 17, 18 and 19, were arrested on scene by police.

Strike Force Trident detectives charged the adults with:

  • 1 x Unlawful entry – building
  • 1 x Stealing
  • 1 x Damage to property

Both were bailed to appear before Darwin Local Court on 27 October 2021.

The 17-year-old will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.

At around 8pm Friday 15 October, police received reports that a youth was unlawfully entering properties around Karama, stealing small items. Strike Force Trident detectives arrested the 17-year-old male a short time later on Applegum Drive. Detectives have charged him with:

  • 2 x Trespass
  • 2 x Damage property
  • 2 x Unlawful entry
  • 2 x Stealing
  • 1 x Resist police
  • 1 x Possess Schedule 2 drug – less Traffickable quantity
  • 1 x Furnish false name

He was remanded to appear before court today.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said, “The Darwin community can rest assured that property offenders such as these will be put before the courts.

“I would like to thank the members of the public who observed these crimes being committed and immediately informed police. Their actions resulted in the offenders being swiftly apprehended on scene.”
