Police lay charges over property offences – Nightcliff

Northern Territory Police have arrested three youths in relation to multiple property offences in Nightcliff on the weekend.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, police CCTV operators observed three males causing damage and unlawfully entering businesses on Progress Drive.

Detective Acting Superintendent Mark Bland said, “On arrival police apprehended one youth who was hiding inside one of the unlawfully entered businesses, the others had decamped”.

Detectives from Strike Force Trident reviewed the CCTV and on Saturday morning attended a residence in the northern suburbs where they arrested the two outstanding alleged offenders.

A 16-year-old has been charged with:

  • Unlawful entry – Building x 2
  • Damage to property x 1
  • Stealing x 1
  • Serious breach of bail x 1

Another 16-year-old has been charged with:

  • Unlawful entry – Building x 4
  • Stealing x 3
  • Damage to property x 3
  • Serious breach of bail x 1

Both were remanded to appear in court today.

A third 16-year-old will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
