Police lay charges over unlawful entry in Darwin City

Northern Territory Police have charged a 24-year-old male following an unlawful entry that took place in Darwin City earlier this morning.

At about 1:40am, police received a report of an unknown male attempting to allegedly break in to a complex on Buffalo Court.

It is alleged that the male has entered from the underground carpark area of the complex, damaging a door before entering a ground floor office. The occupant has heard the male entered and confronted him before the unknown male has fled the scene.

The Dog Operations Unit was deployed and located the male nearby, where he was arrested by police. The male was believed to be heavily intoxicated on a psychotropic substance and was found in possession of an illicit substance.

Strike Force Trident detectives have charged him with:

  • unlawful entry – building x 2
  • attempt unlawful entry – building
  • damage to property
  • trespass on premises
  • possess schedule 1 drug – traffickable quantity

The male will appear in court at a later date.
