Police lay charges – Serious harm in Alice Springs 4 July

Northern Territory Police have charged a man in relation to a domestic violence incident in Alice Springs over the weekend.

At around 6pm on Saturday, a 30-year-old male is alleged to have assaulted his 27-year-old female partner with an edged weapon.

The victim received non-life-threatening injuries and was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital.

Detectives from the Alice Springs Criminal Investigation Branch arrested the man a short time later and he has since been charged with serious harm and engaging in conduct that contravenes a DVO.

He was remanded to appear in Alice Springs Local Court today.

Detective Sergeant David Munro said, “Anyone experiencing domestic or family violence is urged to reach out on 131 444 or in an emergency call 000.”
