Police make arrest after pursuit ends in Northfield, South Australia

One man has been arrested after a pursuit across the north eastern suburbs tonight.

A motorist reported a white SUV driving erratically on Bridge Road, Ingle Farm about 6.45pm on Wednesday 18 December.

A patrol spotted the stolen white Audi SUV travelling at speed on Hampstead Road about 7.30pm but immediately lost sight of it.

The police helicopter (PolAir) headed to the area and picked up the vehicle again in the north-eastern suburbs. Patrols successfully spiked the tyres on O.G. Road at 8.30pm. The car continued to travel over North East Road before coming to a stop in Hoods Street, Northfield.

Patrols surrounded the area, quickly arresting the suspect. The 41-year-old Valley View man is expected to face numerous charges, including illegal use and engage in police pursuit.

The vehicle and keys were stolen during a break-in at a Parkside home on 16 December. Police are also investigating two petrol thefts linked to the stolen vehicle.

The car has been towed for forensic examination.
