Northern Territory Police have arrested a 33-year-old male following an alleged aggravated assault in Arnhem Land overnight.
Police received a report stating a man was stabbed in the face at around 9:45pm last night. Upon arrival, police located the 39-year-old victim with a steel rod protruding from his face.
The victim was conveyed to the local health clinic and subsequently transported to Royal Darwin Hospital with serious injuries. He remains in a stable condition.
The 33-year-old male was arrested and conveyed to Darwin. He is expected to be charged tomorrow morning.
