Police make arrest – Aggravated assault in Alice Springs 28 February

A man who was wanted by police in relation to a serious domestic violence incident in Alice Springs earlier this month, has been arrested by Northern Territory Police.

The man is alleged to have seriously physical assaulted a 16 year old female known to him on 17 February, from which he fled the scene.

Front line officers, together with Drone Operations and the Dog Operations Unit attended a home in Larapinta where the 19-year-old man is alleged to have been hiding.

On police arrival, the offender fled the property on foot and jumping the back fence when he was pursued by Police and Police Dog Fitzy, who successfully apprehended the man.

The man was taken to the Alice Springs Watch House where he was charged with one count each of Aggravated assault and Breach DVO.

He will appear before court at a later date.
