Police make arrest – Domestic violence in Alice Springs 15 August

Northern Territory Police have arrested a male in relation to domestic violence offences in Alice Springs yesterday.

At around 6:50am, police received a report that a 34-year-old male had allegedly assaulted his 29-year-old female partner. She received non-life-threatening injuries and was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital.

The man also received injuries and was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital. He is expected to be charged later today with:

  • Acts intended to cause serious harm
  • Aggravated assault
  • Choking, strangling or suffocating in a domestic relationship
  • Engage in conduct that contravenes DVO

Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Schumacher said, “Investigations into this incident are ongoing and both the man and woman remain in hospital in stable conditions.

“Police urge anyone experiencing domestic or family violence to reach out on 131 444 or in an emergency call 000.”
