Police make arrest – Domestic violence in Alice Springs 25 November

A 25-year-old man who seriously assaulted his female partner in Alice Springs yesterday, has been arrested and charged.

Just before 4am it is alleged the man unlawfully entered a home in Braitling and physically assaulted two women aged 20 and 31-years-old.

The 20-year-old woman was taken to another location and further physically assaulted by the man before he fled the area.

The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries and presented to the Alice Springs Hospital for treatment.

Police located and arrested the offender on Larapinta Drive, and he was taken to the Alice Springs Watch House and charged with;

2 x Aggravated assault

1 x Deprivation of Liberty

1 x Aggravated unlawful entry

2 x Criminal Damage.

He has been remanded in custody to appear before court at a later date.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Carmen Butcher encouraged all victims of domestic violence to reach out and report matters.

“Domestic violence, regardless of the severity, is never ok,” said Det A/Snr Sgt Butcher

“Please, if you are a victim or you know of someone who is a victim, report domestic violence to police so we can provide the appropriate supports to the victim and stop further incidents of harm.”
