Police Make Arrest – Property Offences In Darwin 18 March

Northern Territory Police have arrested 5 youths in relation to unlawful entries across Darwin this morning.

Around 5am, police received reports that a group of youths had attended a licenced premises on Mitchel Street in a stolen motor vehicle and attempted to steal alcohol.

The group were confronted by employees and allegedly began damaging the premises. Security officers apprehended a 16-year-old at the scene while the remaining youths fled in the stolen vehicle.

Strike Force Trident, Dog Operations and general duties deployed, and tyre deflation devices were successfully deployed on the stolen vehicle in Karama.

Three youths, aged between 14 and 16, were apprehended by police after short foot chases.

Another youth was arrested a short time later.

In total, 5 youths remain in custody and are expected to be charged later today with multiple property offences.

Detective Sergeant Dale Motter-Barnard said ” Detectives from Trident are investigating 12 unlawful entries across the Greater Darwin Region this weekend and continue to urge the public to immediately contact police if you witness crime or anti-social behaviour on 131 444 or in an emergency to call Triple Zero.”
