Northern Territory Police have arrested 6 people in relation to vehicles that were stolen over the past few days across the Darwin area.
At 3am yesterday, Detectives from Strike Force Trident sighted several stolen vehicles driving dangerously. As a result, additional Trident members and Dog Operations Unit (DOU) members were called to duty and after a short period of time two stolen motor vehicles were recovered in Ludmilla.
About 5:20am Palmerston general duties sighted a stolen Toyota Landcruiser in Palmerston and a pursuit initiated, with the Landcruiser at times, driving in a manner dangerous. Trident and DOU followed the vehicle towards Adelaide River with a plan to deploy tyre deflation device. Adelaide River and Batchelor members were called to duty to assist.
Two additional stolen vehicles being a Mitsubishi Triton and Mazda BT50 joined up with the Landcruiser and were all followed by Trident and DOU. The Landcruiser was successfully spiked on the Stuart Highway near Adelaide River and the Triton and Mazda were also successfully spiked.
All 6 occupants of the vehicles were arrested, and the vehicles were recovered. Five males aged 18, 19, 20, 20 and 21 have been charged with Drive, use or ride in motor vehicle without consent along with other driving related charges. And one 17-year-old male was dealt with under the Provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.
