Police Make Arrests – Stolen Motor Vehicle In Darwin 8 March

Northern Territory Police have arrested 4 youths after a vehicle was stolen overnight in Leanyer.

Around midnight, police received reports that a Hyundai sedan was stolen from a residence on Gotham Street, Leanyer.

Just prior to 2am, it is believed the same offenders unlawfully entered a residence on Borassus Court, Durack, and stolen number a small items before fleeing the scene.

Strike Force Trident, Dog Operations and general duties, with the assistance of CCTV operators, pursued the vehicle through the northern suburbs with tyre deflation devices successfully deployed on Manunda Terrace and Kalymnos Drive, Karama.

The vehicle quickly came to a stop and two 15-year-olds and two 16-year-olds were arrested at the scene.

All offenders currently remain in police custody and are expected to be charged later today.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dale Motter-Barnard said “The driving we observed last night from this vehicle was incredibly reckless and puts everyone nearby at risk, including police.

“As always, these arrests were the result of the fantastic teamwork between Trident, Dog Ops, CCTV and general duties and thanks to that, this incident was resolved safely.”
