A constable from North-West Metro Region has been charged following an internal investigation.
The male officer has been charged with one count of recklessly cause injury.
It is alleged the incident occurred in Epping while the officer was on-duty in April this year.
The 26-year-old was charged on summons to appear before court at a later date.
