Police officer dismissed in Southern Region, QLD

A 41-year-old senior constable from the Southern Region has been dismissed from the Queensland Police Service.

In January 2017, the officer was stood down from official duty with the Queensland Police Service.

The officer appeared in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court and entered a plea of guilty to a charge of common assault in July.

The officer was sentenced to a $1,500 12-month good behaviour bond and no conviction was recorded.

The officer was the subject of a subsequent disciplinary hearing in relation to misconduct involving excessive use of force and failing to treat others with respect and dignity.

In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when an officer has been dismissed for misconduct.
