The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal traffic crash in Coolangatta early this morning, January 26.
Just before 5am, a stolen white Suzuki SX4 S Cross with stolen registration plates was travelling south on Dixon Street when it left the road and crashed into two parked vehicles before crashing into a fence at an address near Staplyton Street.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 28-year-old man, died at the scene.
The Suzuki was reported stolen from a Bilinga address on January 21 and the registration plates were reported stolen sometime before the incident.
Forensic Crash Unit investigations remain ongoing.
Investigators are appealing to any witnesses or anyone with vision of the vehicle prior to the crash to contact police.
