Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Kewarra Beach 12 August

Police are investigating after a man died in a traffic crash at Kewarra Beach this afternoon.

Preliminary investigations indicate around 3.10pm, a Mazda sedan was heading south along the Captain Cook Highway when it left the roadway and rolled into a ditch.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 29-year-old Bayview Heights man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
