A man has died after a crash involving a truck and car north of Marlborough early this morning.
Initial investigations suggest just after 1am a car collided head on with the semi-trailer around 10 kilometres north of the town.
The driver of the sedan was pronounced deceased at the scene while the truck driver escaped serious injury.
The highway has been closed all morning and will remain closed for a number of hours.
Traffic diversions have been in place.
Anyone with further information is urged to contact police.
