The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating after a 27-year-old man was located deceased at Sarina, south of Mackay, this morning (Sunday May 8).
At approximately 5.50am police were called to reports of a man on the roadway at Sarina Beach Road near Grasstree Road.
Initial investigations indicate the man was walking in a westbound lane when he was struck by a vehicle travelling in the same direction sometime after 5.30am.
The vehicle has then left the scene.
The 27-year-old Sarina man suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.
Police urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has dashcam footage in the area at the time to come forward.
Investigations continue.
