Police search for tradie dressed burglar

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives are hoping to identify a man following two burglaries at a building complex in Southbank this month.

Investigators believe an unknown person gained entry to a private carpark on City Road between 4.10am and 5.50am on Friday 5 June.

The offender was driving a white Toyota HiAce bearing stolen plates ICX 8QR and stole a pressure hose and a platform ladder from inside before exiting the carpark.

Later that day, the vehicle returned and gained access to the same private carpark around 4.30pm.

The van was driven up several levels before an unknown man got out.

A nearby staff member questioned who he was, so the man returned to the vehicle and drove away.

Investigators have release images of a man who they believe can assist with their enquiries.

The man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged in his late 30s, with unshaven facial hair and a tattoo of a dog on his left calf.

He was wearing a black hooded jumper, black denim shorts, work boots, a green baseball cap and had a gold watch on his left wrist.

Anyone who recognises the man or with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
