Police seek information after child approach in Clovelly

Police are appealing for information after reports of a child approach in Sydney’s east yesterday.

About 8.10am (Wednesday 16 September 2020), a 12-year-old girl was walking to school along Clovelly Road, Clovelly, when she was approached by an unknown male.

Police have been told the man was driving a black hatchback when he pulled over on the opposite side of the road near Flood Street, opened the door and motioned for the child to come towards him. The girl ran away and alerted school authorities.

The incident was reported to officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command who commenced an investigation.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 40’s, skinny to medium build with short light brown hair that has been shaved on the sides.

He was last seen wearing sunglasses and was driving a small black hatchback.
