Police seek information: Firearm incidents at Rockhampton

Police are appealing for information in relation to two firearm incidents, believed to be linked, in Rockhampton yesterday.

Police will allege that just after 6:30am on March 16, three men attended an Armstrong Street, Berserker address where they discharged firearms several times into the building. The three occupants of the residence were unharmed.

The three men then returned to an awaiting vehicle, a stolen black Fiat 500 Series with registration 720WHW, that was subsequentially found burned out at Parkhurst later that day.

Police will further allege that just after 6pm; two men attended a Brazil St, Norman Gardens address, where they forcibly entered the premises and assaulted one of the residents. The male occupant sustained some bruising but was not transported to hospital.

The group allegedly stole property before producing a handgun and firing a single shot into a second-floor bedroom, then fleeing the scene in a silver-coloured sedan.

Detective Inspector Darrin Shadlow said whilst the two incidents are believed to be linked due to their nature, investigators have not identified any ongoing risk to the public.

“We do not believe that members of the public have anything to fear,” Detective Inspector Shadlow said.

“It is obviously very concerning for police that firearms have been used in these cases, but rest assured we are investigating with top priority.”

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information, dashcam footage, or may have seen anything on Armstrong Street around 6:30am yesterday or Brazil Street around 6pm last night to contact police.

Investigations are ongoing.
