Police seek information on Ram raid in Alice Springs 24 November

Northern Territory Police are investigating after a vehicle was stolen and used in a ram raid in Alice Springs overnight.

Around 2:20am, police received reports that a white Nissan Nevara was stolen from a residence on Bloomfield Street, Gillen, along with other small items.

The vehicle was observed driving dangerously thought the CBD where it was later used in a ram raid at a business on Spearwood Road, Sadadeen. Extensive damage was caused to the shopfront, however, the offenders did not enter the business.

Police attended and the offenders began throwing rocks at them, damaging their vehicle.

The vehicle was last seen on the Stuart Highway heading in the direction of the airport.

Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Budge said “This sort of violent, destructive behaviour has no place in our town and neither does assaults on police members.

“Detectives from Strike Force Viper are investigating and we are calling for anyone who witnessed the ram raid, or who has information on the vehicle, to make contact on 131 444. Please quote reference 10522729.
