Police seek information: Vehicle fires, Townsville area

Police are investigating after multiple stolen vehicles were destroyed by fire in Townsville overnight.

Initial investigations indicate around 4:30am a grey Hyundai i30, QLD registration 441YET, initially reported stolen from a Kirwan address the morning of Monday, July 25, was located on fire on Dalrymple Service Road.

Several offenders were reportedly seen fleeing the scene in a stolen blue Subaru Liberty, QLD registration 991ZLY.

The Subaru, initially stolen from a Railway Estate residence around 2.45am this morning, was later located on fire near the intersection of Murray Street and Victoria Street, North Ward, around 4:55am.

A third vehicle, a Blue 2020 MG MG3, QLD registration 254AC9, initially reported stolen from a Mount Louisa residence around 4am yesterday, was located on fire around 5:15am on Seventh Street, Railway Estate.

Investigators believe that the Grey Hyundai i30 and Blue MG have been driven around the Townsville area within the past few days and are appealing to any members of the public who may have dashcam, CCTV or may have observed these vehicles to contact police.

Additionally, investigators are appealing for anyone living in Railway Estate who may have observed any suspicious activity this morning to contact police.
