Police seek witnesses after Epping collision

Greensborough Highway Patrol are appealing for witness and dashcam footage following a collision in Epping last night.

Police have been told two cars collided on the north bound lanes of the Hume Freeway on Friday 6 December just after 10pm.

It appears a red Holden Commodore, which was observed driving erratically and with no headlights prior to the collision along the Metropolitan Ring Road; veered off the freeway into the centre wire barrier before swerving back onto the road.

Once back on the road the Commodore collided into the driver’s side of a silver Toyota Camry before both vehicles came to rest against the centre wire barrier.

The three occupants of the Toyota were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The 20-year-old driver from the Commodore furnished a positive preliminary breath before his evidentiary reading of 0.137.

The Craigieburn man’s licence was immediately suspended.

He is expected to be summonsed to appear at court at a later date.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or to anyone with dashcam who may have been in the area of the Metropolitan Ring Road or the Hume Freeway in Epping to call police.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or log onto www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
