Police seek witnesses – Moreton Bay incident, Manly on Saturday, May 5

Detectives from Wynnum Child Protection and Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to an incident that occurred in Moreton Bay, Manly on Saturday, May 5.

Between 12md and 12.30pm a woman aged in her 20s and a pre-teenage girl were in the water, approximately 50 metres from shore, out from George Clayton Park, The Esplanade, Manly (and approximately 850 metres from the Wynnum Wading Pool).

The pair appeared to be in distress and a member of the public, a man swam out to them, while police were called.

A police officer who arrived on scene also swam out to the pair before the woman was convinced to return to shore.

The woman and child were treated at the scene for minor injuries from the cool water temperatures and cuts from the rocks and oyster shells.
