Police seek witnesses to Dandenong North death

Homicide Squad detectives will set up a vehicle intercept point tomorrow morning in the hope of finding witnesses or dash-cam footage in relation to the death of a man in Dandenong North on Monday.

Detectives will be at Carlton Road near Gladstone Road between 5am and 6am on Wednesday 4 December in the hope they can locate witnesses in relation to the incident.

They are specifically appealing to anyone who was travelling in the area at the time who may have seen a man chasing another man on Gladstone Road or Carlton Road or the altercation taking place between the pair on Carlton Road, who may have dash-cam footage or information to contact them.

Furthermore, detectives are appealing for anyone in the Dandenong North area who observed anyone acting suspiciously in front or rear yards of properties, particularly anyone wearing a dark coloured check shirt and shorts, in the early hours of the morning on Monday 2 December to contact Crime Stoppers.

The appeal follows an altercation that occurred after a 26-year-old woman from an address in Gladstone Road saw a man acting suspiciously, in the front yard of her home just after 5am, Monday 2 December.

The woman’s partner confronted the man in nearby Carlton Road where a physical altercation took place.

The 37-year-old man, of no fixed address, sustained life-threatening injuries in the fight and was taken to hospital where he died several hours later.

The 31-year-old Dandenong North man sustained minor injuries and was also taken to hospital.

He has since been spoken to by Homicide Squad detectives who released him pending further enquiries.

The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
