Police seek witnesses to Footscray hit-tun

Investigators from Westgate Highway Patrol are seeking witnesses after a man and his dog were struck by a car in Footscray last night (10 Nov).

The man walking his dog was waiting at a set of traffic lights when they were struck by a car on Ballarat Road, near Gordon Street, about 8.30pm.

The car, a red 2008 Ford Mondeo sedan, has then run into the front of a shop and the four occupants have allegedly run from the scene.

The pedestrian, a 44-year-old man from Footscray, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The dog, a brown Labradoodle, was taken to a veterinary clinic and is in a critical but stable condition.

No one in the shop was injured.

Police arrested a 48-year-old man and 27-year-old woman, both from Footscray, about 10pm.

They have both been released pending further enquiries.

Police are still searching for the two other occupants.
