Police Seize Stolen Vehicles and Firearms

Launceston Police seized vehicles, firearms, drugs, cash and stolen property from a residence in West Launceston last night.
Detectives from the Launceston Criminal Investigation Branch and officers from the Northern Road and Public Order Service attended the address and searched for stolen property.
During the search, police located two stolen vehicles – a 2017 Toyota Landcruiser and a 2016 Toyota Hilux.
Police also located two stolen firearms, a homemade firearm, a quantity of cash, a small amount of drugs and stolen property.
Two other vehicles wanted by police for other matters were also seized.
A 28 year old man from Youngtown and a 34 year old woman from Newnham were arrested at the scene and were detained at the Launceston Police Station while investigations and forensic examination continued.
Today, police charged the 28 year old man with firearm offences, property offences, drug offences, attempted escape, assault police, resist police and breach of a Family Violence Order. He was detained to appear at the Launceston Magistrates Court tonight at 8pm.
The 34 year old woman was charged with firearm offences, drug offences, property offences and breach of bail. She was detained to appear at the Launceston Magistrates Court tonight at 8pm.
