Police shooting in Kirwan, QLD

A man has been shot by police after officers were called to a disturbance in Kirwan today.

Police attended an address on Bel Air Avenue around 4.40pm following reports a man had threatened self-harm.

Preliminary inquiries indicate the armed man was shot by police after advancing at them around 4.55pm.

Immediate first aid and CPR was provided, however, the 52-year-old man died at the scene.

A crime scene has been declared and police investigations are continuing.

Circumstances surrounding the incident will be investigated by the Ethical Standards Command on behalf of the State Coroner, and the investigation is subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
