Police update 2: Fatal house fire, Russell Island

The Queensland Police Service is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding a fire that occurred at Todman Street, Russell Island on August 6, that claimed the lives of six people and destroyed three houses.

Extensive investigations to date have failed to identify the cause of the fire.

Despite this, no suspicious circumstances have been identified.

An extensive report will be prepared for the coroner now that the post-mortem examinations have been completed.

The victims’ families have been updated with respect to the status of the investigation and support continues to be provided.

Officers would like to thank the community for their ongoing support following this tragedy.
