Police have charged a 52-year-old North Ward man following a fatal two-vehicle traffic crash in Gumlu earlier this year.
Around 11.05am on Sunday June 3, a bus with 33 people onboard was travelling north along the Bruce Highway.
The bus allegedly crossed onto the wrong side of the road and struck a Landcruiser station wagon travelling in the opposite direction, which was towing a caravan.
Three people on the bus, including a 33-year-old German woman, a 21-year-old German woman, and a 56-year-old Townsville woman, died at the scene.
Several other bus passengers were also injured.
Following extensive investigations, the man was arrested today.
Police will allege the man was the driver of the bus at the time of the crash.
The 52-year-old North Ward man has been charged with five counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death or grievous bodily harm.
He was due before Brisbane Magistrates Court today, and is due to reappear at Bowen Magistrates Court on September 24.
