Police update: Armed robbery in Elanora, QLD

Detectives have charged a man following investigations into the alleged armed robbery of an Elanora jewellery store last month.

Around 4am on January 17, it will be alleged two masked men used a stolen gold 2006 Toyota Rav4 station-wagon to smash their way into the northern end of a shopping centre on Guineas Creek Road.

The pair then exited the vehicle and smashed their way into a nearby jewellery store, located within the shopping centre.

It will further be alleged the pair subsequently stole a quantity of jewellery before fleeing in the stolen vehicle.

The stolen car was later located engulfed in flames at Ellioh Court, Elanora.

An 18-year-old Coomera man has been charged with serious assault, enter premises with intent, enter premises and commit, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, arson, drive without a licence and fraud.

He appeared in Southport Magistrates Court today where he was remanded in custody to reappear on February 13.

An 18-year-old man from Edens Landing was also arrested on January 26 in Calamvale and charged in relation to the same alleged incident.
