Police update: Arson investigation at Balmoral

Detectives have charged a second man in relation to an arson at a Balmoral business on June 20.

Police will allege two men smashed a window to gain access to a hair salon on Riding Road around 3am and lit a fire with an accelerant.

The fire was quickly extinguished by emergency services and the business sustained minor damage.

Yesterday, a 37-year-old Marcus Beach man was charged with one count each of arson and attempts to destroy property by explosives.

He will appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.

Police had previously charged a 39-year-old Bracken Ridge man with one count each of arson and unlawful dealing with explosives.

He will reappear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 21.
