Northern Territory Police can confirm the 50-year-old man seriously injured in Casuarina last week has died in hospital.
Around 6:45pm on 5 September 2024, a 50-year-old man allegedly assaulted a taxi driver on Bradshaw Terrace after he exited a taxi with a female family member. The driver then allegedly struck the man, who has fallen backwards and hit his head on the roadway.
The driver allegedly moved the man from the roadway and spoke with the man’s family member before leaving the scene in the taxi.
The 50-year-old was conveyed to hospital in a serious condition and passed away yesterday.
The 25-year-old driver of the taxi was apprehended on 6 September 2024, and is assisting with enquiries. At this stage no charges have been laid and he does not remain in custody.
Detectives from Major Crime are investigating the incident and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
