Police update: Fatal traffic crash at Kippa Ring, QLD

Police have charged a 27-year-old man following a fatal traffic crash at Kippa Ring this morning, September 22.

At apprximately 6.55am, police were called to the intersection of Anzac Avenue and Oleander Street after a Holden Commodore utility allegedly collided with a Suzuki Swift.

Two women in the Suzuki Swift were seriously injured.

The 72-year-old female driver passed away at the scene.

The 41-year-old female passenger was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with serious injuries.

The male driver of the Holden Commodore utility allegedly left the scene on foot.

He and was located by police in a drain approximately 1.5 kilometers from the scene in the Redcliffe area around 9am.

Police investigations have established the utility was allegedly stolen from a Stafford address between September 18 and September 19.

A 27-year-old Aspley man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm, driver fail to remain at incident and render assistance, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and stealing.

He is due to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow, September 23.
