Police update: Man charged over fatal crash at Kingston, South Australia

A man will attend court after the car he was driving rolled at Long Beach last weekend killing the passenger.

Just after 2pm on Sunday 22 December, emergency services were called to a single car crash on the beach area between Kingston and The Granites off the Princes Highway. On arrival they located a car that had rolled injuring a woman in the passenger seat.

The passenger, a 22-year-old woman from Portland in Victoria, was airlifted to the Flinders Medical Centre but she died in hospital on 26 December from her injuries.

The driver, a 29-year-old man from Portland in Victoria, was admitted to the Mount Gambier Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

He was arrested on 23 December and charged with dangerous driving. He was granted police bail to appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court on 24 March.

Lives lost on the States road now totals 112 compared to 78 at the same time last year.
