Police update: Police officer, woman injured in two-vehicle crash in Nepean

A police officer and a woman have been injured in a two-vehicle crash in Sydney’s west overnight.

About 1am (Saturday 14 December 2019), a marked police vehicle from Nepean Police Area Command was responding on urgent duty, under lights and sirens, when it collided with a Mazda 3 at the intersection of the Great Western Highway and Russell Street, Emu Plains.

Following the collision, the police vehicle spun and hit a traffic control light.

The police driver, a male Constable, was uninjured and exited the vehicle to assist the driver of the Mazda.

The passenger, a female Constable, suffered an injury to her arm and was taken to Nepean Hospital for further treatment.

The driver and sole occupant of the Mazda, a 72-year-old woman, was taken to Nepean Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
