Police update: Robberies at Gold Coast

Gold Coast police are appealing to the public to help locate a black Mazda CX-3, stolen from a woman following a number of attempted armed-robberies along the M1 on the southern Gold Coast on Friday August 9.

Around 3pm, a silver Ford Falcon with no registration plates was being driven dangerously south on the M1 near Burleigh when it stopped suddenly in front of a vehicle.

A woman and a man armed with a sharp implement exited the Falcon before threatening drivers and attempting to steal two different vehicles.

After their unsuccessful attempts, the pair continued south on the M1 before confronting another driver of a vehicle near the Palm Beach exit.

The pair forced a 67-year-old woman out of her black Mazda CX-3 hatchback before taking off in the car (similar to picture).

The stolen black 2017 Mazda CX-3, bearing New South Wales registration plates “DSE11Z”, operated via a keyless ignition and the keys were not stolen during the robbery, meaning once the car is turned off – it is inoperable.

Anyone who sights the vehicle is urged not to approach it and call police immediately.

Police also continue to search for the man and a woman involved and urge anyone with information of their whereabouts to come forward.
