Police update: Serious assault and stolen vehicle at Woree, QLD

A metallic 2000 Holden Commodore station wagon stolen following the violet attack of a 93-year-old man at Woree yesterday has been located dumped at Smithfield today.

The man’s family have requested the below be provided to the community and media on their behalf –

Our family has been heartened by the community support and offers of help for our elderly grandparents who were robbed of their car yesterday morning.

They are fiercely independent, however we have a tight-knit family that provide plenty of love, care and support to them.

We’d like to thank staff from the IGA Woree, hairdresser and local medical centre, along with Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Police Service for helping our family yesterday in their time of need.

We’d also like to thank the many people who have offered flowers, gifts and support. Whilst we are grateful, we cannot accept these gifts.

We would ask those to consider other charitable and welfare organisations in our community in these trying times.

All we ask, is that those with information about attack on Grandad and the robbery, please contact police.

We are extremely grateful to police and Barron River Towing as the car has been recovered in Smithfield today.

We have such a lovely caring community and we thank everyone for your concern, kindness and good wishes for a speedy recovery.
