A 32-year-old Gold Coast man has been charged with one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm following the alleged serious assault of a man in Mackay overnight.
At 1.45am, emergency services were called to a Macalister Street address following reports of a physical disturbance.
On arrival, a 60-year-old man was located with serious head wounds. He was transported to the Mackay Base Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The two men were staying in the same accommodation and were known to each other.
