Police update: Shooting incident at Gympie

Police have charged two men following a violent altercation in Gympie on Saturday morning.

At about 5pm on December 21, Gympie police arrested a 43-year-old Durack man at a petrol station along the Bruce Highway in Curra.

The man was taken into custody without further incident and was transported to Gympie Watchouse.

Th 43-year-old man has been charged with two counts of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and attempted robbery and one count each of unlawful possession of a category C weapon (shotgun), possess explosives (ammunition), enter premises with intent, armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and producing dangerous drugs (cannabis).

A 31-year-old year old Murrumba Downs man who also was at the Anderleigh Road address on Saturday morning has been charged with two counts of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and one count each of possession of a category M weapon (knife), possessing dangerous drugs and possess utensils or pipes.

Both men will appear at the Gympie Magistrates Court on tomorrow Monday, December 23.
