Port of Sale, pools and libraries to re-open

Wellington Shire Council is pleased to announce the re-opening of some facilities, following the latest advice from the Premier regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

Playgrounds, skate parks and outdoor gym facilities are already open. On Monday, 1 June 2020 Council will be permitted to re-open the Port of Sale, Aqua Energy and library branches throughout the municipality.

Wellington Shire Council Mayor Alan Hall thanked the Wellington community for its patience during the closure of Council facilities.

“While some of our facilities will be re-opened next week, patrons need to be aware they will look and feel a little different due to the pandemic,” he said.

“You can still visit the Port of Sale, wander through the Gippsland Art Gallery, spend time in the library, seek some travel advice from the Visitor Centre and grab a take-away coffee.

“However, you will be required to provide your details when entering the building to meet Government regulations, sanitise your hands and keep in mind physical distancing.

“These measures will be in place to ensure the ongoing health and wellbeing of our local community and Council staff.”

Cr Hall also explained Aqua Energy would be open for lap swimming and hydrotherapy only, as Government restrictions did not yet allow the re-opening of gyms.

“At this stage we cannot re-open the gym but those who have been missing the hydrotherapy and lap-swimming will be pleased to know they can resume these activities at Aqua Energy from Monday,” he said.

“Staff have been working hard to implement new cleaning regimes and opening hours have changed, but the good news is that patrons will be able to get back in the water.”

Customer Service Centres in Sale and Yarram will re-open Tuesday, 9 June 2020 for face-to-face services.
