Positive COVID-19 Case Update 14 January

Two people from the international defence cohort have tested positive for COVID-19.

This includes, a 19 year old male and a 30 year old female who arrived on an international flight to the Northern Territory on 11 January 2021. Both are asymptomatic and are under the care of Royal Darwin Hospital.

All known close contacts of the two cases have been transferred from the approved place of quarantine to the Howard Springs Quarantine Facility, where they remain in isolation under the care of NT Health.

The alternative place of quarantine for the international defence personnel and their families has been approved by Chief Health Officer and is outlined in the Foreign Military NT Quarantine COVID-19 Safety Management Plan.

This includes strict infection control measures and appropriate risk controls regarding mandatory PPE requirements, daily health checks and COVID-19 testing.

There has been no breaches of the COVID-19 Safety Management Plan.

The total number of cases diagnosed in the Northern Territory is 94. All cases have been related to international or interstate travel, with no cases of community transmission.
