The future of the Mt Lyell mine looks positive after a new agreement was signed.
Shadow Resources Minister Shane Broad said the new agreement paved the way for a restart of the mine and crucially, the potential for more jobs in the region.
“Tasmanian Labor welcomes the agreement that could lead to the restart of the Mt Lyell mine,” Dr Broad said.
“A restart would mean jobs, jobs for Tasmania and jobs for Queenstown.
“Labor has always been a strong supporter of Tasmania’s resources industry and look forward to the potential reopening of the Mt Lyell mine.”
