Applicants can view the Powering the Regions Fund’s (PRF) Safeguard Transformation Stream (STS) Program Opportunity Guidelines (the Guidelines).
The PRF is part of the Australian Government’s Powering Australia plan for Australia to become a renewable energy superpower and reduce our emissions to net zero by 2050. The PRF will provide matched funding through competitive grants to assist industry invest in decarbonisation.
The $600 million STS under the PRF will support decarbonisation investments at trade-exposed industrial facilities covered by the Safeguard Mechanism with the aim of bringing forward investment and technology adoption.
Many trade-exposed facilities covered by the Safeguard Mechanism are important as they provide essential inputs to supply chains for clean energy. These include production and processing facilities for metals, critical minerals, chemicals and cement.
Stakeholders, including industry, investors, state, territory and local governments, employer groups, employee groups, First Nations, and regional communities were consulted on program design and this informed the development of the grant guidelines.
The STS Guidelines are now available to help industry prepare when the grants open 7 August 2023.
