Predatory driving, assault police charges after pursuit at Parkes, NSW

A man has been charged with multiple driving offences after allegedly ramming a police vehicle during a pursuit overnight.

About 9.45pm yesterday (Wednesday 22 July 2020), officers attached to Central West Police District were patrolling London Road at Parkes following numerous driving complaints.

Police will allege a red Holden commodore bearing false plates drove past them at speed and failed to stop at a red traffic light.

Officers activated lights and sirens; however, the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.

The sedan was driven onto a dirt track before losing control and hitting a fence.

Police stopped alongside the vehicle with intention of arresting the driver, when it is alleged the car struck the police vehicle and drove at speed via Best Street.

The vehicle came to a stop on the front yard of a home on Westcott Crescent where it is alleged the driver attempted to run from the scene before being arrested.

He was taken to Parkes Police Station where he was charged with police pursuit, predatory driving, resist officer in execution of duty, assault officer in execution of duty, drive while licence suspended, use unregistered motor vehicle, use uninsured motor vehicle, not display authorised numberplates, not stop at red light.

The man was bail refused to appear before Parkes Local Court today (Thursday 23 July 2020).
