Premier avoids scrutiny and leaves Tasmanians in dark

Tasmanian Labor

This morning
Premier Jeremy Rockliff was scheduled to go on Leon Compton’s radio show to be
interviewed on a range of topics for the first time in months.

But instead Mr
Rockliff cancelled his appearance after the ABC had tried to get him on the
show for two months.

Mr Compton is
an experienced journalist with an excellent understanding of politics.

Mr Rockliff has
chosen the easy way out and has simply refused to front because he knows Mr
Compton would ask difficult questions around the many issues the government is
failing on at present, including the incompetence of Minister Madeleine Ogilvie
who is failing in two portfolios.

As a leader you
have to front up and explain things and provide information to the people you
are leading regardless of how difficult the issues are.

Instead Mr
Rockliff has chosen to hide and not subject himself to scrutiny.

Scrutiny and
accountability go with the territory when you’re the premier.

If Mr Rockliff can’t stand the heat he should get out of the kitchen.
