Premier has two days to work with nurses

Tasmanian Labor

The Premier and part time Health Minister Jeremy Rockliff cannot allow his weak and imploding government to distract him from the fact that it’s just two days till our hardworking nurses and midwives take strike action.

Our hospitals were at breaking point before COVID and our staff were overworked and underpaid.

Our exhausted nurses deserve better conditions. The government’s inadequate 2.5 per cent wages policy does not cut it. Our health staff are already some of the lowest paid in the country and this only acts as a slap in the face.

Jeremy Rockliff and his Treasurer Michael Ferguson need to come to the negotiating table with a real plan to ease concerns of and the pressures on our nurses and midwives.

Whilst this government is imploding as it loses yet another Minister, our health system remains in crisis and needs leadership from this weak Premier.
