Labor supports Tasmania’s bid for an AFL/AFLW team – we always have.
But we don’t agree that another stadium is the right priority for our state.
Just a month ago, Premier Rockliff said the stadium was not part of the bid for a Tasmanian AFL/AFLW bid.
But today in Parliament, the Premier danced around whether this has now changed.
With Tasmania in the grip of a health, housing and cost-of-living crisis, infrastructure projects promised years ago still undelivered and the government struggling to manage the budget, Tasmanians have a right to know how their tax dollars will be spent.
The Premier should come clean on what his government is signing Tasmanian taxpayers up to.
